Texas Scramble |
4 drives each, chosen shot player plays first, as it lies. Others place within one open card length, not nearer the hole. Off the fairway, drop within one club length, in the same conditions, not nearer to hole. Gross medal score, less 1/10th of total handicaps. This is not WHS guidance but agreed by committee to simplify organisation Team of three : 5 drives each. On green 4 putts. (Chosen putt, player plays first & last) Gross medal score, less 1/6th of total handicaps. |
Pairs Scramble |
At least 6 drives each. Others place within one open card length, not nearer the hole. Off the fairway, drop within one club length, in the same conditions, not nearer to hole. Irish/ Reverse Irish Fourball |
Best 2 net Stableford scores on par 3’s added together, then the best net 3 scores on par 4’s added together, then all 4 net scores on par 5’s added together. Number of scores to count per hole can be reversed at the Captains discretion. All hole scores are then added together for total team score. This can be reversed 4 net scores count on par 3s and 2 to count on par 5s Team of three: as per 4 man except 3 scores count on par 5’s. add 1/6th to total score. |
Multiplier Plus |
Best 2 net Stableford points multiplied together, plus next best net. Team of three : add 1/6th to total score. |
Medford |
A) 2 Lowest handicaps play best net medal scores. B) Other 2 play best net Stableford score. A-B = Team Score. Team of three B) Other one plays net Stableford, plus 1/6th |
Reverse Medford |
A) 2 Highest handicaps play the best net Medal score (maximum score of 8) B) 2 Lowest handicaps play the best net Stableford score A-B = Team Score.

Team Stableford |
Best 3 net stableford scores added together. This can be varied by all 4 scores to count Team of three: add 1/6th to score |

Yellow Ball Stableford |
All 4 Stableford Scores to count on each hole except the player with yellow ball counts double. Each player must play yellow ball on at least 4 holes. If yellow ball lost then no double score from there on. |
Devil Sixes |
Best 2 net Stableford scores (holes 1 to 6 as per card) added together, then best net 3 scores added together (holes 7 to 12), then all 4 net scores added together (holes 13 to 18). All hole scores are then added together for total team score. Team of three: add 1/6th to total score. |
Traffic Lights |
Stableford, total of best 3 scores on each hole. Course cards to be prepared prior to the day and will be colour coded as to which holes will be red, yellow or white tees to ensure all players play from the same tees. The tee colour for each tee and which slope index to be decided by the Senior Captain Team of three : add 1/6th to total score. |
Cha Cha Cha |
For the 1st hole (of the course of the day); the best net Stableford score of the team will be recorded in the Results column Team of three : add 1/6th to total score. |
Lone Ranger |
The players rotate in turn the role of Lone Ranger with the order of the four players being decided before playing the first hole. The Lone Ranger’s net Stableford score is added to the best net Stableford score of the other three players. So, two balls will score on each hole. The highest score will determine the winners. Team of three : add 1/6th to total score. |
General Rules |
In the event of a tie the Better back 9 is always as per the card, except in a Medford where the lowest net medal score will determine the winners. The maximum playing handicap for the above competitions is 36. All competitions are played with 100% handicap allowance A bonus ball option is available at the Captains discretion. |
